BackyardEOS 3.1.0 Release Candidate 05 is ready for download. 

 

RC05 is pretty solid,  this looks like it will be the final RC before full production release... late October I hope. 

 

Free upgrade from 3.0.x to 3.1.0 to everyone as usual.

Change log (from RC04)

- bug fix: Abort session was not working correctly when abort a session within 1 second of starting it.

- bug fix: Some images where not named "Abort..." after a abort session.

- change: Added FWHM focus metric in the spot histogram (Premium edition).

- change: Off-plan edition is removed.  This functionality is now available in the new Preview feature.

- feature: New Preview feature to view images while camera is disconnected (Premium Edition)
- Testing on XP, Vista, W7, and W8

 

This Release Candidate will NOT overwrite your current v3.0.x installation.

RC05 Preview Mode - another Niggle...

 

The Mouse Cursor Icon during the Drag / Drop in Preview Mode remains a "Invalid" symbol (Slashed Grey Circle) even when hovering over the proper Preview "window".

Shouldn't the Mouse Icon turn to a "Permissive" Icon when one is hovering over the correct area which WILL allow the Drop ??

 

 

All of the issues seems to be UI rendering, it's almost like your GPU can't handle it, but that seems unlikely, I'm not sure <_>

 

EDIT: Is your .net framework up to date.

Oh, the is works as designed.  When Preview button is not highlighted you are not in preview mode and you can not drag any images... because you are still on the home/disconnected page.

The picture box needs to be active; click on it where you want to zoom to take effect then try pg/dn.

On my Win7 Desktop and Laptop, RC05 is recognizing the Numeric Keypad "+" and "-" but not the standard Qwerty "+" or "-".

 

Is it possible that you are only evaluating for keycodes 107 "+" and 109 "-" and not also the keycodes 168 "-" and shifted (16) 61 "+" ??

 

Some users only have narrower Qwerty keyboards with overlaid/emulated Keypads...

I don't have the details yet on how it will all work out in the end as I'm still ironing out the final details myself... but I'm trying to automated it in a way where you go online, enter your current code or your original paypal transaction number and your key will be issued immediately.  Something like that... and if all else fails I will process the odd one manually.

 

EDIT:  Keys will no longer be emailed, they will be available online in your 'personal client area' of our new web site.

Yes, form a functionality perspective it's almost there.  The only reason I'm delaying it is because I'm trying to combat software piracy and I may have to make a slight change on how keys are validated.  I don't want to go deep into details here because I'm not sure what changes (if any) will take place in the software key validation/activation.

I just got the flashing white box thing in RC05 when right clicking on the last image loaded.

 

However when I loaded a previous image the right click worked and then it also worked when I loaded the latest image again.

This looks to me like the control did not paint properly but the screen real estate was reserved.  If this is the case is seems to be a .net issue and a pain to track.  Is this reproducible at your end?

1) Had the planetary screen stuck in 5X again. The only way out is to leave planetary mode and come back.

 

2) It seems to me that imaging background processes should have priority over planetary. E.g. Take 1000 frames in planetary, AVI creations runs in the background. Pop over to imaging and take a shot. Nothing loads until the after AVI is finished.

 

3) Lastly, is the "maximum sensitivity" setting causing planetary to start with iso 12800 and 2" each time I switch to that mode?

2) True, I should be able to push the planetary encoding into a parallel process so it does not impact the images from a capture plan in imaging mode.  I'll fix that.
