Question

I have two questions; I have been using a modified 40 D for dso's , How will this perform for the eclipse?  Too much red?

I have a second camera; unmodified 450xsi. I can not get it to work with Byeos.  the software recognizes the camera, I have tried saving just to the cameras chip but no dice either.  The cannon utility is not required for windows 10 to recognize the camera.  Any  ideas?  thanks cjacobson

BTW the frame and focus function works just fine with the 450 xsi.

Suggestion:  Install the EOS Utility Disk for the 450D even though the Camera is seen from the PC.  There is a difference between accessing the Camera as a USB Drive and accessing it as a Camera (and the best Driver is that in the EOS Utility Disk).

Which version of BYE are you using and which driver (Canon SDK) are you selecting when connecting?

What is the problem with the 450D? You say that you cannot get it to work with BYE, but then say that the software recognizes the camera. I am confused.

I honestly cant answer how a modded camera would work for the eclipse. It depends on what type of glass was put in in place of the original cutoff filter, what type of scope/lens you plan to use, and what your eclipse imaging goals are.

Rick the frame and focus aspect works with the eos 450d but not the imaging function; this seems to work with any of the three canon software picks,ie, canon, canon 210, and canon 215.  I get the error message: "Error EDS_Error_internal error: EDSK.Eds Send command .  I can not find a web explanation of this error message.

The canon website states the cannon Win 10 software is not need for this camera and indeed , I can just plug in the usb cord and down load images.

Finally Iam using BYEOS 3.1.8 thanks cjacobson

I believe that the internal error is in the camera or the Canon SDK. The Canon web site  should indicate that the low-level driver for the 450D is part of Windows so there is nothing else to download from Canon.

It may Guylain to investigate a BYE log file that was collected when you take the steps to re-create your issue.

I would suggest using the Canon215 SDK rather than the other 2 options.

BYE 3.1.8 is a bit old, but I would not go newer than BYE 3.1.9 until some final issues with the newer versions have been addressed.

I read the post but Rick's answer so for where on the ball so I left it.

Send me the log files.  However, from past experience, there is nothing I can do when the camera throws an internal error.  This is an error that occurs in the camera and is usually outside what I can do/address.

I want to reiterate the issue for clarity though Ithink its plain per Rick.  I have just tried to my EOS 450D xsi with various versions of the camera hook up software in your program. each one recognizes the camera and will run the frame and focus feature.  When I switch to imaging I get the error message:EDS_Error_internal error: EDSK.Eds send command.  I have recharged my camera's battery, tried imaging and saving in jpg both to the computer and to my memory stick.  Always get the error "clunk" after taking an imaging and not displaying it.

Called Canon;  they said if it will connect to your windows machine as this one does it is not their issue;

here are the software logs;

logfile-[20170806-18h27m56s706]-[4920]-2017-08-06.txtlogfile-[20170806-20h43m19s992]-[2076]-2017-08-06.txtlogfile-[20170806-21h02m36s063]-[4900]-2017-08-06.txtlogfile-[20170807-16h32m30s615]-[9772]-2017-08-07.txt

thanks. If insufficient I can present some more.

You are running 3.1.8.

Please upgrade to the latest 3.1.13 .

I'm sorry but an EDS_Error_internal error: EDSK.Eds is a pure Canon camera error thrown by the Canon SDK.  We need to figure out why your camera is throwing this error.  I can not fix code that is not mine :(

My only suggestion at this point is to perform a full factory reset on the camera, there should be a camera menu option on the 450D for this.  If this is caused by a setting in the camera (who knows what it could be) this may do the trick.

Regards,
