Preview Drag and Drop

nlskies

Question

I am trying to drag images to BYEOS Preview mode but not having any luck. Image area of BYEOS says "Drag images here to preview". When I try dragging a file and hover over, get a circle with cross mouse icon, dropping has no effect. What am I doing wrong (probably something obvious :=) ?

Thanks,

Dave

Drag & Drop is a premium feature.  Do you have Classic or Premium?

I have only implemented image types that Nikon and Canon supports; that would be camera raw image file (CR2 and NEF) and jpgs.

What image file type are you dragging?

How many files are you dragging at once?  1 or 5 or 500?

Keep us posted,

The Image Preview feature is designed to allow you to drag and drop image files from Windows Explorer into BYE.

I'm not sure what you mean by "circle with cross mouse icon".

Where are you dragging your images from? What version of Windows?

With my Windows 7 laptop, when I drag a JPG file from a directory that is displayed in a Windows Explorer window I see a thumbnail of the image file when I first start to drag it from the folder. When the mouse pointer is inside the drop area in BYE, the cursor is a complex cursor consisting of the standard arrow pointer a dashed line rectangle and a plus sign.

I do not have a problem when dropping a JPG image file from Windows Explorer into BYE's Preview screen.

I got your log files... and there is no evidence of any drag/drop activity :(

Each drag/drop activity will add the following log entry.  Yours has none.

2016-06-05 13:13:23,503 [44] INFO  - Loading 1 drag/drop image(s)...

This indicates you are not dragging the file in the correct location.

Can you please provide a print screen of where in BYE you are dragging these images from Windows folder into BackyardEOS?

ok - have sent a screen grab. Basically, dropping to the "Drag images here to preview" window (yellow circle in screen grab). Also tried the "filmstrip" area below that (blue circle).

BYEOS is already installed and running with Admin privileges. Tried disabling Antivirus (Avast) as you suggested in your email, but still no joy. I guess it is something specific to my environment - I'll poke around some more.

By the way, is there a means of achieving this without drag and drop (ie. File-Open?).

Try to simply IGNORE the "Disable" Slashed-Circle Icon, and simply Drop that JPG into the Preview Image area.

I get the same behavior as you describe (persistent Slashed-Circle icon), but once the File is Dropped (and a second or two is allowed for Decoding and Display), then the Image is Displayed.

(Never did the Mouse Icon change from a "Disabled" to an "Enabled" one...)

Here is a snippet of my Log Files:

BYE should not need to be installed or executed with Admin privileges.

The issues of Admin Privileges is associated with certain outcomes of Win10 Upgrades - those Upgrades where User Accounts don't result in Rights to all of the Common Directories.  It is unfortunately, but it DOES happen...

BUT...  It doesn't appear to be a Contributing Issue in this case...
