No AVI files

bbennekers

Question

I am testing the BackyardEOS 3.1.6 TriaL Edition with a Canon Rebel T3i camera (2015). Everything seems to be working except that I cannot find any AVI files when making a movie (100 frames) in planet mode. Only 100 jpg files. I use the AVI + JPG setting. I also downloaded the MOV to AVI software. No error messages.

Thanks

Please remember that the Major Brands of Virus Scan Software have MILLIONS of Successful Users, so using ANY one of Them is Significantly BETTER than having NONE of them running on your PC (even if "Low Risk" by being kept Off-Line from the Internet).  (Remember, even an Infected USB Flash Drive can transfer a Virus.)

There may be Issues between the ways in which certain Virus Scan Apps Monitor the Applications on your Systems, or the way that they apply their various Heuristics to damp-down on "Suspicious" Activity, or the Aggressiveness of the "Default Level" of Protection.

Perhaps that is the True Issue behind this "Conflict" between McAfee and the BYE Background Worker App - after all most Viruses are also working in the Background so it IS VERY IMPORTANT that a Virus Detection Routine be rather Vigilante.  Maybe McAfee is just a bit Too Aggressive at identifying the Background Worker as "Suspicious".  But perhaps McAfee also provides Developer Support in order to resolve such False Positives.

This may be a program bug.

I tried the same steps as you with BYE 3.1.6 Premium and my T5i. I got the following error in the log history.

13:45:30  Licensed to *************
13:45:36  Attempting to connect camera...
13:45:36  Canon drivers 'Canon215\' initialized.
13:45:39  700D-T5i CONNECTED!
13:48:16  Planetary imaging started.
13:48:21  Capturing 16.4 frames per second.
13:48:27  Collection was modified after the enumerator was instantiated.

It appeared that the background worker process was never given any work to do.

However, I was not able to repeat those symptoms. I changed the number of frames and ISO and successfully recorded a video which resulted in an AVI file being created.  I set the frame count back to 100 and was still able to create the AVI file.  I exited from BYE and killed the background worker process and restarted.  I attempted to repeat the initial test and it succeeded.  This may be some time of threading or timing error.

Good Luck!

It runs in the background (no user interface). I saw it in the Task Manager's list of processes. Also when the capture is complete and the background worker process has been given the post processing to do, the queue count will increment by 1.

post-2029-0-79801100-1458338174.png

It will decrement by 1 when the background worker is complete.

Also, a blank space is displayed instead of a zero value.

You purchase here.

Once the transaction is complete you will have a new purchase key in your client area.  Start BYE on your desktop, then click the padlock icon in the upper right corner, and enter you new purchase key there.

I have McAfee too but have not had any problems recently. I will get something else next month.

If you haven't had any problems with your McAfee Installation AND you HAVE USED the BYE Planetary Mode (at least for testing), then there is No Reason for you to change Anti-Virus Applications (possibly to one that has Other Issues with BYE or with another App on your PC or is Less Efficient than McAfee at Virus Protection).

Collection was modified is a programming error and nothing that a user can fix.  It is due to a software bug either in .NET or the application.

An enumerator for a .Net collection becomes invalid if that collection is changed (elements are added or removed).  If code tries to subsequently use that iterator, the "collection was modified" error is reported.

Basically the code cannot change a collection while looping through that collection.

Sorry, that is not what Guylain needs. He needs the detailed log files.

Follow the instructions here --> https://www.otelescope.com/index.php?/topic/893-how-to-submit-log-files-for-troubleshooting-an-issue/#entry6045

If you have tons of files, don't send all of them, only those from a couple of dates where you experienced the issue.

Hi,

Thank you for the log files.

The log files do indicate that your AVI are recorded and save.  I do not know why you are claiming that are not save.

Did you look at later logfiles, I remember the first tests were Ok, deleted the files. Later, maybe due to a settings change I could not find .avi files only jpg.

FYI, I have 2 BYE's, one for camera2. I think the first(succesfull) test was done with camera2, later I switched to the first one. I ran a test on camera2, but now it was 'hanging' on VDub in the 'DOS' screen. How long should I wait? Deleted the VDub's ran again, but no avi file, however it seems camera2 behaves somewhat different then 'camera1' (DOS screen).

Did some more tests.

- AVI+JPG 100 frames no AVI files.

- AVI only, 200 frames. Worked!

- AVI+JPG 200 frames. AVI file and JPG files.

- AVI+JPG 100 frames. AVI file and JPG files.

This looks like the post from astroman133! Somehow it did translated the AVI+JPG setting to JPG only.

It works with the VirtualDub exe, MS DOS/Command window. Don't know yet if it will work without the Virtual stuff.
