focuser

Question

I have a starlight micro focus motor connected to my CPC G11. on a astrophysics GTO 900

Should the bye focuser program be able to control this focuser? Or do I need to use another program to control the focuer.

Starizona recommends focusmax or maxim.  I really would like not to have to use another program and hope Bye can do this.

I have plugged the motor into the mount but Bye can't see it. Does anyone know what I have to do?

Thank you for any help at all as I can't seem to get it going, regards, bob

BYE Classic will use the DSLR's Built-in Lens Focuser Control in order to help Manually Focus a Camera Lens.

BYE Premium will connect to an ASCOM Focuser Driver in order to Manually Control ANY of the various Scope Focusers which have ASCOM Drivers.

Any form of Computerized Auto-Focus is a BYE Future-Version Feature.

So, if you simply want to be able to Manually Focus your Scope, you need BYE Premium and an ASCOM Driver for your Starlight Micro-Focuser.

I also have a Starizona Micro Touch that works well with the Sky-X Pro and CCDSoft.  Exactly how do I install the ASCOM drivers for BYN? ( Which files go where?)

You don't install the ASCOM driver for BYN.

You install the ASCOM driver for your physical focuser.  Once this is done any application that can communicate with ASCOM and implemented the Focuser interface, such as BYN,  should be able to connect and operate.

You need to install the ASCOM driver for your focuser.  You may also have to install the ASCOM platform if it is not already installed.

Both the ASCOM platform and the specific ASCOM driver for your focuser are prerequisites for BYE to see your focuser.

Hope this helps,

First, you need the Premium version of BYE or BYN. Then, you need to install the ASCOM Platform and an ASCOM driver for your focuser.  Then you should be able to connect to, and control, the focuser from within BYE or BYN.

The ASCOM Platform can be downloaded here.  You should check with the focuser manufacturer's web site, or perhaps a CD that came with the focuser, for an ASCOM driver.
