Please ensure that you've followed all the "Basic Nikon DSLR Connection Advice":

  1. Make sure that PC is updated to latest Drivers for specific Camera (don't count on Windows Update for oldest DSLRs or newest Just Released Cameras)
  2. Ensure that WiFi is OFF and Connection is made via USB Cable supplied with Camera
  3. Make sure that an Empty (but properly formatted) or "near empty" Memory Card is installed in the Camera (Primary Slot if a Multi-card Pro Model)
  4. Make sure that Lens is set to Manual Focus
  5. Make sure Camera is NOT set to any Face-Detect Focus Mode
  6. Make sure the Mode Dial is set to "M" (or "B" if no "M")
  7. Make sure that LiveView is not invoked to Camera-back LCD

If still no success, follow the directions in the Stickie Post of this Forum related to Supplying Developer with Full Log File.

Good Luck!!

And, for Newly Released models:

  1. Ensure that you Download and Install the Latest Pre-Release Candidate version of the BackyardEOS/Nikon Software (Bottom Category to Right on Software Download page)
