I further tested with my canon 80D, and backyardeos works fine with it.  Shows up and interfaces as advertised.  Went back to the M50 and discovered that it works if I manually apply pressure shoving the plug into the camera body.  As soon as the pressure is let up, it disconnects.  So the issue is hardware and with my camera, not with backyardeos.  Thanks for the help.

If you respond to the "What do you want to do with Device X:??" Prompt with Access Images / Files, then Windows will show it as a device in File Manager.  But this is the WRONG mode for Connectivity to BYE, and you will need to Reboot the PC and Power Cycle the Camera.

While I'm happy to see BYE works fine with your M50.... I equally sad that there is a hardware issue with it.  Best of luck, these are not always as straight forward to solve sometimes :(
