Problem with Canon 1200D

fantalorenzo

Question

Good morning, i have a problem connecting my Canon 1200D.

"DEVICEINFO NUMBER IS .........
YOUR *REAL* MODEL NUMBER IS ........(FFFFFFFE)
Generic model 153 assumed!"

-

I must say that if i connect a Canon 6D it works fine.

But (with same options and configuration) with Canon 1200D does not work, as showed above.

Do you have any help for it?

thanks in advance

I am not familiar with the EOS 1200D model.  Is it a new model?

It is not listed on the BackyardEOS web site as a model that is compatible with BYE.

Whatever the model, it must be supported by Canon's EOS Software Development Kit (SDK) in order for BYE to be able to control it. That can take up to a year after the camera is first made available in North America.

Canon has also dropped support for older cameras.

And finally, Canon has come out with new camera, the EOS M, that is not supported by the SDK for computer control. So, apparently, not all new cameras will be supported in the Canon EOS SDK either.
