camera1.exe is much better with its CPU load but still about 50% of a core on my 2.4GHz dual core.  So approx 100% better than 2e.

No idea if camera1's talking to PHD is the cause now .. seems possible but unlikely.  I am guessing the timer / sleep routine isn't quite there?

It's there, tried, and tested.  Mine are idling... even during bulb.. just a few % of usage.  It peeks at post download for about 5 seconds, then below 5%.

Go to settings -> advance settings and choose "progress wheel blink".  See if that makes a difference.

I am still having a problem with the D3s. Bulb works but nothing comes through on the live mode e.g. focus and frame. I hear the camera react, but nothing shows up - including the focus area. I am using a DSUB cable and it works. Thoughts+

Yeah, still the same with the D800 too <_>

I'm leaving for Vagas Thursday.  When I get back I'll go rent a D800 (at least) and try to make it work.  And if I win big in Vagas... well... I'll still buy instead of renting :)

Thanks

Wait a minute... you use a DSUSB.  That should work!

Go to settings -> advance settings and select "Force Serial Cable".

Then try your DSUSB in BYN again.  Does it work?

Thanks

I am not sure which files you want - there were 6 tonight and one too big to upload (1.6 meg) but these were the first of the night.

I see this error all over the place.

BinaryRivers.BackyardEOS.Modes.FrameFocusMode.<>c__DisplayClass7.<CameraLiveviewImageOnMessageRecieved>b__6()

2014-09-22 19:42:25,596 [Main] ERROR - FrameFocusMode.<CameraLiveviewImageOnMessageRecieved>b__6

2014-09-22 19:42:25,597 [Main] ERROR - Parameter is not valid.

2014-09-22 19:42:25,597 [Main] ERROR -    at System.Drawing.Bitmap..ctor(Stream stream)

It is a .net error trying to draw the bitmap image.  This is probably the source of all your issue.

Is your Windows up to date, more specifically .net 4.5?

You may want to  try to reinstall .net 4.5  That may solve your issue.

No joy. Laptop runs win 7 and the .net was v4. I put 4.5 on and no difference.

Ok, I'm leaving for 1 week on a trip and will be back early October.  I'll check then... but the error is either .net not being able to create an image from the live view stream OR the camera is giving a faulty live stream that can not be converted into an image.

I'll try to wrap this error and see what it does.  At best it will ignore the faulty live view frame and move to the next.  At worst all live view stream images are faulty and .net is unable to create the bitmap image from it.

In the meantime you should try with another computer to see if it is the camera or the computer that is the issue, or both, or none.

No go - same thing. I tried a different D3s and a different computer. Loaded 2f on it and same thing. When I click on Frame & Focus, the preview screen flashes then is black. Clicking on the cross hair icon does nothing, nothing shows up. Again, it works perfectly with a D300 on the computer. Just to confirm a DSUB cable and I did the advance option 'force (something or other)' that you told me to. There are two logfiles attached - some might be referring to a D70 (thought I would just give it a go... nope).

D600

First test of my D600 was not very successful. Camara connected nicely, but I was only able to take one frame at the time. It is probably just me, but I could not figure this one out. This is the log:

17:42:54  Licensed to BETA Tester (support@binaryrivers.com)

17:43:02  Nikon drivers initialized.

17:43:27  Attempting to connect camera...

17:43:29  D600 CONNECTED!

17:44:50  Imaging session started.

17:44:54  Imaging session cancelled

17:44:54  [kNkMAIDResult_ValueOutOfBounds] (kNkMAIDCommand_CapStart, 33560, kNkMAIDDataType_GenericPtr, 428404988)

17:44:57  Imaging session cancelled

Any idea?

Yes I know, this is the same old BULB not working on the high end models.

I have rented a D800 (same issue as the D600 and D610) for October 24th weekend.  I hope to finally have a fix for this bug.

So, that means you have to WORK and can't make it out to the All-Arizona Star Party that weekend ?? [confused]

Bortle 2 skies and Clear Nighttime Skies in the mid-50*s with little Humidity, and Sunny Mid-80*s Days... [cool]

I hope that your D800 Rental includes at least SOME time behind a Scope!!

I thought that the D3 series of cameras does not have SDK support from Nikon, so will not work with BYN.

The D3 is a single digit model, it's the D3### with 4 digits that are not supported.

Good catch though.
