Yes, BYE is good for all AP Imaging Capture Modes:

  • DSO Capture - with DSLR attached to a Telescope via Prime Focus or Eyepiece Projection or to a Long Focal Length Lens
  • Widefield/Nightscape Capture with DSLR attached to Medium to Wide Lens or Widefield Scope
  • Planetary Imaging - via DSLR attached to Long Focal Length Telescope using LiveView Video Capture
  • Lunar Imaging - via either Still Frame or LiveView Video Capture
  • Solar Imaging - via either Still Frame or LiveView Video Capture

Bye works equally well with a DSLR and Camera Lens or attached via a T-Adapter to a Telescope.  In the latter case, the Camera acts as if the Telescope is simply a Large Manual-Focus Lens.

There may be a compatibility restriction of you are using a very old camera. BYE attempts to allow users of DIGIC II cameras to use them with BYE. However since Canon no longer supports them, they have not provided drivers for modern 64-bit versions of Windows. Therefore if you have one of those models, it can only run on 32-bit versions of the O/S.
