Screen Clears

krphotogs

Question

So, i have a strange problem happening. I connect a D500 and all is fine, then I click on frame and focus and - randomly - the preview window and the panels on the right (sorry forget name of them) are all blank, empty. Clicking on frame and focus, and all looks normal, clicking again and the correct screens are showing.

This is running on a Windows 10 system.

Not critical, but just irritating - anyone seen similar?

Ummm... do you have a print screen?  It's difficult to imagine the real issue without a print screen.

Yeah... right after I posted that I thought a picture might help. If I wait for the weather to clear here it may be a while, but I will try to reproduce it.

You should not need to be outside to re-create the issue.

Also you should state what version of BYN you are using and upgrade to the latest, if not already there.

The Preview screen should switch to the Imaging screen when you connect. So are you saying that when you switch from Imaging to F&F that the F&F screen is not fully populated?

Weird, doesn't really make any sense.  Never seen this before.

Do you have another computer to try on?  Try to use the exact same steps and see if it works or if you get the same white screen.

Keep us posted,

No no no, you misunderstood me. When it happens the white shows what is empty (I took a screen shot and blanked it out to simulate what happens). When I see it, It is grey not white. When I turn F/F off everything comes back. Typically the next time I go into frame and focus it works. I will hook everything up in my observatory over the weekend and try to replicate. Sorry for the c9nfusion, I was only trying to show what was blanked out.

Even the controls to the right turns white?  Or just the image area?

Could it simply that your image is over exposed?  When this happens, block the lens/telescope.  Does it remains white?

Everything that is white is greyed out. The only thing visible is the top row. I wait a bit, then click F/F to turn it off and all the dis0lays return to normal. Going back into F/F normally works. It is randomn and I have never seen it happen twice in a row.

So after upgrading you said "I tried a few times and nothing". Does that mean that with the latest version of BYN you are not able to re-create your problem, or does "and nothing" mean that you still see nothing?

No, I tried a few times before upgrading. But, it is intermittent so not easily reproduced. I will take a screen shot the next time it happens.

Multiple versions of .NET can be installed side-by-side, so Guylain does not want to know your .NET version, since there are likely to be several. His question was "Is .NET version 4 up to date?"

To answer his question you may need to look at the Windows Update update history. For example, I can see that I installed the 2018-09 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework....(KB4457918) in early December.

Hmmm - ok.... I will check and get back to you, but observatory is shutdown and I am gone for a couple days.

Okay, thanks.  I'm not sure where to go from here :(

Well, this gets a little stranger - the other night all seemed to be working well, then I received this error. Since I was in the middle of a sequence, I let it go and hit continue. It continued on, but spawned another instance of BYN. Maybe a de-install and re-install?
