D5600 Connection

I apologize in advance for what seems to be a stupid question...can someone tell me what cable I need to connect my Nikon D5600 to BackyardNIKON?  Does the standard micro USB to USB cable make this connection or do I need a different cable to have the shutter release function?

I have searched through the support forum but the more I read the more confused I get...

The Nikon D5600 is supported and requires only the supplied USB Cable - as detailed on the Camera Support Table:  https://www.otelescope.com/store/category/4-backyardnikon/

Find the post near the top of the BYN Support Forum that is titled "BackyardNIKON camera support grid, is my camera supported?"

Read the post and follow the link to the camera support grid. The grid will tell you if you need an additional cable for bulb shutter control.

The D5600 doesn't come with a cable - they recommend buying the UC-e20 cable if you want one.  I have used a regular micro-usb cable I picked up at CVS and it seems to work fine.  Is there any reason to buy a more expensive one from TetherTools, etc.?

USB cable deteriorate over time... good quality cables like TetherTools will last longer and they have slightly bigger strands usually and better interference protection.

Try a less expensive cable at first if you have one and buy the more expensive one only if you have issues with the less expensive generic cable.
