When I take a picture its downloading but I can't find it in the selected folder. When I select camera and pc Its not on my camera and not on my pc. I also tried it with the older driver version. Are there any files in the BackyardTEMP\Download folder?

The camera needs to be in Manual mode with WiFi disabled in the camera. Doing a factory reset on the camera has been useful in some cases.

Also, it may be useful to upgrade to BYE 3.1.17 RC2 (from the pre-releases section of the Download area) and to test with your antivirus software temporarily disabled.

Finally, the folders used by BackyardEOS should be on an always-available local hard drive.

in the backyardTEMP folder only the old files are there (trial version)

the camera is started in Manual and I also tried bulb. No wifi available on this camera.

The backyard folders are on my local harddrive

version 3.1.17.rc2  exact the same problem

21:46:21  Imaging session started.
21:46:28  Imaging session completed successfully

No images in the folder, no TEMP files, no logfiles in the folder.

But BYE functioned as expected when you used the Trial license? Guylain has said many times that there is no difference in the code between the Trial license and the Premium license. Something else has changed. You have only showed fragments of the logs. It may be good to send one log file that exhibits the issue to Guylain following the instructions in the How To topic.

And I'm saying it again... it's the same code so if something worked with the trial and no longer work with a purchase key I'm 110% positive this is related to a camera setting.

Is the camera set to BULB or Manual mode?

The camera is in bulb or manual mode, I tried them both. The trial version I used was 3.1.16 from last year. I didn't use it for a while. when i found the time and the clear sky this weekend I saw the trial version was expired and i bought this weekend a premium license . The strange thing is that I can find the old logs (trial period)  in the logs folder but there are no recent logs there. The logs I posted are copy/paste from BYE at the top left side of the screen. I can find also the old pictures I took( trial period) but the new ones are not registered. If it is the camera setting then it is the same on both cameras. I checked both of them. Eos utility isn't running. I really don't know wat else to do.

Please check the BackyardTEMP folder location in BYE Setting dialog.  The logs should be in there.

If not then you have a Windows folder security issue.

Alternatively you can create a new folder somewhere, say c:\BackyardTEMP and point the BackyardTEMP folder there.  This should work if the issue a is a Window folder security issue.

Keep us posted.

There is a little progression. I uninstalled BYE and I removed all folders manually. I reinstalled version 3.1.17. When opening the program BYE, Bitdefender gives a warning for the first time that BYE want acces to the folders. After authorising it is possible to take pictures and there are logfiles. But the problem "unable to set image  quality current setting is assumed" stays the same. Do you need the log files?

I'am waiting for support. It isn't possible for me to adjust the camera settings. Only possible on the camera itself. But when i take a preview its changing the settings automatically to a small Jpeg picture and thats normal but i have to go back to the camera to adjust it manually all settings again before taking the definitive pictures. Maybe support find a solution in the logfiles.

I'm not sure why this has happening.

However, there is a workaround.  Go to Settings and set the image quality to "In-camera" and set the quality to RAW using the camera menu,  BYE will no longer change it to JPG going in/out of frame&focus.  This should work.

When I use the workaround instructions its possible to take pictures in the preview mode and they were taken in RAW. But when I go to Frame & Focus thats not working and in the logfile gives the next warning twice with 16 seconds between the warnings  'Unable to set LiveviewAutoFocusMode, current setting is assumed!'

I tried to push the live view button at the same time but thats changing anything. The buttons for lens focus aren't working either.

Eric,

So you can take pictures from the Imaging screen, but LiveView won't work. This is a different issue. The 5D Mk IV has some sophisticated LiveView autofocus options that are not fully supported by the Canon SDK and so cannot be supported by BYE. If you change the LiveView Focus method from Face+Tracking to Flexizone Single you should be able to use LiveView with BYE. Once LiveView is active, and with your EF lens in AF mode, lens focus should work.

Thanks, but the camera I'm using normally is a 7D mark II.

I think I found the problem. In the camera menu it is necessary to enable live view recording. Flexizone + single isn't necessary with the 7D mark II. After that it's possible to use Frame & Focus.

BUT: this warning ''Unable to set LiveviewAutoFocusMode, current setting is assumed!' is there the moment I click on Frame & Focus.

The first problem ' Unable to set ImageQuality, current setting is assumed!' still exists but with the workaround 'set the image quality to "In-camera" and set the quality to RAW using the camera menu' it is possible to use BYE. The only problem is that all the settings has to be changed on the camera itself.

The second problem ' Unable to set LiveviewAutoFocusMode, current setting is assumed! appears each time in the logfile when I activate Frame & Focus even when in the camera menu' live view recording is enabled'  but its working and that's important.

May be something to look into before the official release of version 3.1.17
