D810A Failed Connection

JBarrie13

Question

Repeated failure trying to connect D810a to BackyardNikon.  Camera software up to date, downloaded latest BackyardNikon software version (2.0.9), emptied camera card of images, tried two different cables with same result, unable to connect.  Running Windows10 64 bit via VMWare Fusion (latest version) on intel based MacBook Air.   Could this be an issue operating BackyardNikon on Windows 10 with virtual machine?  Other PC software operating without problems with this setup.  Any suggestions?

Search through the BYE and BYN Forums, as there have been other MAC Users who reported similar experiences and worked through them.

As Guylain indicates, most times that a resolution was reported, it seems that solution involved finding complications in the MAC-to-VM-to-Windows handling of the Virtual and Real USB Ports.

Rather than struggle with Windows through a virtual machine, have deleted windows (and all programs including Backyard Nikon) and reloaded Windows (10 Pro 64 bit) using BootCamp.  Reinstall worked fine and have redownloaded programs including Backyard Nikon.  Enter license key associated with purchase and identifier ( account login name) but get the following message repeatedly - "Additional non-parsable characters are at the end of the string".  Nothing but the license key and Identifier entered, both correctly.  Any suggestions?

You are not entering the key correctly.  Use cut&paste.  This is usually cause by a typo.
