Canon 500D Mirror Lock

cuivenion

Question

Hi, I've recently downloaded the BYEOS trail version to test with my Canon 500D. All seems well but the mirror lock function doesn't work. There is no delay between the mirror going up and the start of the exposure. I've selected different seconds in the mirror lock field but  there is no difference.

Okay, I just checked in code and for the 500D / T1i you need to set this property manually using the camera menu.

This is because this property it is registered as a readonly property in BYE and BYE is unable to change any property values marked as readonly.

By camera menu, astroman133 meant that you have to use the menu button on the camera body itself and find the mirror lock option (it's a custom setting) by navigating the camera menu; then set it on or off.

Why do you want to use mirror lock?  How long are you exposures?

Regards,

Hi, thanks I understand now. I'm wanting to use mirror lock for full disc lunar imaging. I won't be using the planetary/lunar setting with liveview. I'll be using the normal imaging setup to get the full resolution of the sensor and take very short exposure single images. Thank you both for your help.
