Command line interface

Question

Hi All,
I've just bought Canon 350D modyfied and I'm looking for Windows software that allows taking astro pictures using command line, eg.:

makepicture.exe -time:15s -iso:3200 -output:C:\myfolder\file.raw

Can I run BackyardEOS this (or similar) way?

KR,
Gajowy

No, BYE is not designed to operate from the command line.

It does, however have a documented external API that can be used to cause it to take a picture. So, if you are a developer it would certainly be possible to write a console program like "makepicture.exe" that would communicate with an active instance of BYE to take a picture. Keeping an instance of BYE open would have an advantage of avoiding all the startup overhead that would be associated with launching a new instance of BYE each time you want to capture an image.

Please remember that Canon does not supply an SDK for the 350D which is capable of running under a 64-bit OS.  You'll need to have access to a 32-bit version of WinXP/Vista/7 running directly from a Boot Device (no VM, not even VirtualPC).
