Canon 80D not connecting to BYE.

Question

Unable to connect Canon 80D to BYE. My laptop is running Windows 10 64bit and recognises the camera and with latest drivers installed. 

The following is exact log details (from top left BYE) when trying to connect:

 

Attempting to connect camera

DEVICEINFO DESCRIPTION IS Canon EOS 80D

DEVICEINFO NUMBER is 3470492101

YOUR *REAL* MODEL NUMBER IS 4294967294(FFFFFFFE)

Generic model 153 assumed!

 

Previously using a Canon 60D not sure if this has any significance?

The 80D is not supported by BYE...Look at the BYE Camera Support Grid for currently supported models.

 

My guess is that the 80D is not yet supported by the newest version of the Canon SDK.  Therefore BYE cannot control it...Be Patient.  It may be a few months until Canon releases a version of the SDK that adds support for the 80D.

Be sure that you Install the version of the EOS Utility Tool and Drivers which came on the CD/DVD packaged with your new 80D.

 

While the Issue reported is most likely an indication of Lack of SDK Support, the Drivers on the Disk might allow the 80D to be recognized as Compatible with an older Model.

 

And, if not...  

You'll at least have the Newest EOS Utility - which in a pinch can allow you to do the basic AP Imaging Tasks of Tethered LiveView for Focusing and Tethered Shooting for Imaging.  (Enough to get you by until Canon posts the SDK that allows BYE to support your 80D.
