PHD/PHD2 Graph

Jerry_K

Question

Is there a way to see PHD guiding graph on top of BYE? I want to be able to see progress of my session in BYE but also see the PHD graph. I have asked at Stark_labs as well.

You can re-size the BYE and PHD windows and position them wherever you need them. They can be on different parts of the screen or overlap.  Whichever window you select will be on top.  This is behavior is totally controlled by Windows, not by either BYE or PHD.

Remember, as well, that you can even "Undock" (move to a separate window) the PHD2 Guiding Graph and Star Profile Graphs.  This makes it even easier to find locations to place the various windows when you have a lower resolution laptop screen.

Me, I position the PHD2 Windows behind BYE, but with the "leading edge" (right-side) of the Guiding Graph showing to the right of BYE, and the Star Profile "data display" to the left of BYE, and the Status Bar of the main PHD2 window showing below the BYE window...

Give it a try...

Thanks guys, I did try that already before call for help but it is hard to see either window in my tiny 15" laptop. I was hoping for something like ASCOM Celestron hand controller that you can place on top of any opened application.

Jerry,

Windows tries to prevent applications from "always being on top".  Microsoft used to allow that behavior but it caused a lot of frustration so they now try to prevent it.

Your best bet is to make the BYE and PHD windows as small as you can, and then click on the applications' task bar icons or the windows themselves to select which one is on top.

I typically put the PHD2 window on the right and the camera capture window on the left.  The camera capture window (sometimes BYE) overlaps PHD2, but I can see the right most 75% of the guiding graph which is what I am most interested in.

This is on my 17" laptop, so it may have a greater resolution than your 15", but not necessarily.

Thanks Rick,

I will experiment a bit more with that tiny 15" screen. I will try to have BYE preview at bottom and PHD2 graph at top and on top and see how it works.

How is your observatory working? I have to visit your Flickr.
