Camera stays in Tv mode, will not go to bulb

Daniel_Marcus

Question

I tried using astro tortilla, and and could not get it to work. When done, it looks like BYEOS will not let the camera go to bulb mode. Uninstalled BYEv3.1 and reinstalled it. Still same problem. After leaving frame and focuse, when you try to image for 10 sec the camera informaton center shows Tv : 2", and will show downloading after 2 sec and keep showing downloading till the time the shutter is set for (if set for 300 sec will do it for 300 sec, and only take a 2 sec exposure.???????? Program worked before Astro Tortilla was installed. Have not tried to uninstall astro tortilla yet. Any suggestions? Running XP. Camera works ok on other computer (win 7) running BYeos v3.1.

Oddly enough my T3i was automatically disconnecting when taking BULB images this weekend and was working fine in TV mode.  This is not the exact same behavior you got but it is similar in nature.  I had to physically remove the battery for about 30 seconds to recycle the camera and it worked fine after that.  Not sure if removing the battery for 30 seconds on your T3i would have fixed the issue.  It almost seems to me like the camera was left in a weird state.

Glad you got it to work.

to get the debug log, I take it I have to go to settings, then advanced and check the log4net internal debug? then where do I find the log? Still a puzzlement to me how it works on one computer and not the other.

No, the logs are always created :)

Hi Guy

sent you the logs of both computers as per your email instructions. I reset the camera settings on the T3i, both camera and custom, still does not work right on the XP 32bit computer. I did try a T2i and a 70D on the offending computer, and both worked fine. The T3i does work with the canon remote software on the XP computer, but does not work right with BYEOS. ????? does sound like a camera setting problem, but darned If I can figure out which one to change. Hopefully the logs will shed some light on the problem.

Daniel,

It seems that the combination of the T3i and Win XP 32-bit and BYE is not working correctly.  Hopefully Guylain will be able to see something in the log files.

The T3i does work with the Canon EOS Utility software?? So if it is a camera setting, it is a setting that can apparently be controlled via the SDK.  Does the XP machine have all the latest Service Packs installed?
