Frame & focus for live view with Nikon ZII

vertexshadr

Question

Connection to Nikon Z7ii works, and imaging menu inclusive of the sequence capture etc.  However, the Frame & Focus does not have live view option working, with 'Parameter is not vaid.' returned in log. I re-tested using a Nikon Z50, and found that live view works.  What steps should I take, perhaps a driver issue?  It will be great if anyone can advise since the focus feature is helpful live compared to opening images after each minor adjustment.

23:04:33  Nikon/Z7II drivers initialized.
23:04:36  Z7II CONNECTED!
23:04:40  Parameter is not valid.

There is a low-level driver that is part of Windows is part of Windows and is not a typical cause of problems. There is another driver that is part of the Nikon SDK. It is provided by Nikon and is incorporated into each BYN release.

The ZII is not listed as a supported camera model. What version of BYN are you using?

BYN 2.1.2 was released only a few months after the camera was released. BYN 2.1.3 ,the current pre-release, is newer but may never have been tested with the ZII. BYN 2.1.3 was released only last month and so should have the latest version of the SDK.

I would make sure that you have enabled LiveView shooting in the camera's menus. I might also suggest performing a factory reset on the camera. This is in case there one or more settings that are preventing LiveView from working. One common issue is auto-focusing choices that can affect control from BYN. It may help to select single-point focus mode.

Also be careful about performing a firmware upgrade on the camera. These upgrades can require an update to the Nikon SDK which can take up to several months to be released with a new version of BYN.

I got the log file.

Goto Settings -> Advance Settings.  What value do you have for live view offset (checkbox and number value)?

EDIT: For the Z7II, please check the checkbox and set the value to 1024 and try again. Please report your findings.
