Plate solving with All Sky Plate Solver

Question

Hi there

Is it possible to integrate BYE Premium with All Sky Plate Solver? I want to be able to take a picture and then directly solve the image so I know if I captured the target. I know it is possible with AstroTortilla, but is it possible with All Sky Plate Solver?

Thanks!
Hari

That question has been asked before --> https://www.otelescope.com/forums/topic/2686-all-sky-plate-solver/

AFAIK, All Sky Plate Solver (ASPS) requires a FITS file and BYE and BYN do not currently support FITS files.

However, ASPS uses astrometry.net which also supports solving of JPG images, so it may be possible to manually create a small JPG "Snap" image from the Frame & Focus screen and manually ask ASPS to solve it.

Also, O'Telescope provides an API that allows 3rd party apps, like ASPS, to directly request an image for solving. This is how it is integrated with AstroTortilla and The Sky X. So you could talk to the ASPS developers to get them to integrate BYE and BYN with ASPS. No changes to BYE or BYN would be necessary for this to happen.
