No 5X zoom button in planetary mode for EOS Ra?

Genoafire

Question

So I have been practicing indoors due to the weather with both my EOS 60Da and EOS Ra for the December 21st planetary conjunction.  The 60Da works great with all the available features, including the 5X planetary zoom. However with the Ra there is no 5X zoom button on the planetary screen.  So all of the captures with the Ra are at less than the full 1:1 pixel resolution.  No problem with the captures, just no way that I have found to set up the 5X zoom in planetary mode with the Ra to increase the capture size. Has anyone else had success using the Ra in planetary 5X zoom mode.
Thanks so much.

You can't access it via the SDK, not even EOS Utility can do it.

Try EOS Utility and see if you can activate 5x via software...it does not work.

BYE uses the same Canon SDK as Canon's own EOS Utility software. When I did my test with an EOS Ra about 18 months ago the 5x zoom was not exposed via the SDK for this model.

If you try EOS Utility, please come back and confirm your findings.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. Now I understand your initial reply better. Not being a software developer, only a computer user, I was unfamiliar with the use of SDK to develop software such as BYE.  Still learning at 65,  Lol.  Fortunately the 60Da works beautifully with BYE for planetary, so the choice between the two is easy.

Then perhaps the fact that BYE could not initially use 5X zoom was due to a problem in the SDK that Canon has since corrected. It may be worth re-visiting support for this capability.

This is what I suspect as well.  Let me see what I can do at my end to re-activate 5x in the BYE code base and perhaps it will work with the newest SDK.  That would be the best outcome.
