It won't work.  It's not supported yet.

Please read the camera support grid for all supported camera model.  The link is in the page footer.

I just downloaded the Nikon SDK for the D6.  I'll try to recompile this weekend with it and upload a pre-prelease in the download pre-release section.

Regards,

Apologies for delay. Thanks for making the update and providing the download link. I tested tonight. It works partially.

What works (1st screenshot below)

- Connect and Disconnect

- Changes to Shutter speed (Duration), ISO, & Aperture

- Image capture and download

What doesn't work (2nd screenshot)

- Frame and Focus:  the mirror in the camera does not click up, and the screen does not appear to be receiving an electronic live view signal (see screenshot below). When I click the F&F button again, it returns to image capture mode just fine.

Please let me know if there is any other functionality you would like me to test. I only tested what I traditionally use on my other Nikons.

I got the log file, thank you. Is Liveview disabled on the camera?

I have used Live View multiple times in both photo and video modes. I even engaged it on my 2nd or 3rd attempt w/ F&F in BN to see if if the Live View image would appear in BN. There are only 2 settings in the Menu that are related to Live View:

- Custom D14 - Live view in continuous mode (On or Off)

- Photo Shooting Menu - Silent live view photography (On or Off)

I toggled these and they did not make a difference for F&F.

I downloaded the D6 manual and searched on "Live View" to see if there were any other settings, but did not find any.

When you toggled the in-camera settings, did you disconnect and reconnect, or restart BYN?

No settings were made while connected to BN. I had shutdown BN when I researched the Nikon manual for anything associated with Live View. I then enabled both of those settings, started up BN, connected the camera, and tried F&F again. The enabled settings did not make a difference.

Try this...

Start BYN and to frame and focus.

Then enable live from the camera body.

  1. Is liveview displayed on the camera lcd screen
  2. Is liveview displayed in BYN

I already did this in one of my attempts and it only displayed on the camera, not on BN (see above where I wrote:  "I even engaged it on my 2nd or 3rd attempt w/ F&F in BN to see if if the Live View image would appear in BN"). I will do it again and supply the log file.

The developers are not able to test each camera with each new version of BYN. It will probably take a D6 user doing some testing to determine what works, and perhaps what doesn't. In the mean time, note that the D6 is NOT on the supported cameras list.
