BYE supports all cameras (DIGIC II and later) that Canon has provided support for in their Software Development Kit. BYE is currently released with a version of the SDK that pre-dates the release of the 2000D. If history is any measure, Guylain will add support to your camera into BYE as soon as Canon releases a version of the SDK in North America that supports that model. This could be as long as several months after the release of the camera.

I just uploaded BYE 3.1.17 RC3 in the download pre-relase section.

It is not going to work initially but you need to download and install BYE 3.1.17 RC3.

Then connect your 2000D with BYE and you should be getting some funky numbers like these.  Send them to me; I need them to complete the 2000D configuration.

07:08:18 DEVICEINFO DESCRIPTION IS Canon EOS 2000D
07:08:18 DEVICEINFO NUMBER IS ############.
07:08:18 YOUR *REAL* MODEL NUMBER IS ############(80000###)

mozgolator,

Even with the latest pre-release version BYE will not work with your camera. You need to provide the numbers as requested in Guylain's previous post. There is no need to do so privately or to mask them as they relate to all 2000D cameras. When Guylain is able to incorporate the model (using the numbers that you provide) into BYE, you will be 1 step closer to getting the camera to work with BYE. If Canon has done their job then it should just work but other newer cameras have required him to do some customization. Here's hoping that it will just work. That said, there may be some camera settings that BYE does not have access to that you may need to modify because they prevent the Canon SDK from fully functioning.

They may be:

WiFi should be disabled
Long-exposure Noise Reduction should be disabled
High ISO Noise Reduction should be disabled
LiveView Focus Mode should NOT be Face+Tracking

There may be more settings that you need to change to be fully compatible with BYE.

Hello, in the near future I will check the compatibility with this Canon. Thank you.

Do you have a 2000D?  If yes I need those numbers to make it work.  Without them I can'i identify the camera from the SDK so I can't configure it.

Download the latest pre-release and try it.  If it does not connect send me those numbers from the message area.

I had to turn OFF any WiFi, these cannons wont even connect to their own software over USB, when WiFi is enabled, not even just connected nut enabled in Menu/Functions/NFC WiFi has to be set to disabled. Now I'm to the not supported by SDK level at least. Can i get  that beta version pre-release that might support it, I just noted that the version I need to have to use my camera, I promise to send logs and such and respond to you on whatever you need, I'm a DSLR noob, but have participated in many network and protocol debugging sessions in my time. I understand how hard it is to troubleshoot issues on a device you don't physically own. So let me know email me and I'm happy to also help via phone, or direct emails. I'd love to help you get this model supported, it seems to have lots of nice features at a low pricepoint, so its a good model to add IMHO, I can't afford Canon's new Astrophotography rig, its way too far out of my budget.

Please be patient. You provided info that admin needed just a few minutes ago. He needs to incorporate those numbers into the program and provide a new pre-release version for you to try. He will post back here when a new version is available for you to test.

You are correct about the SDK's non-support for WiFi and the fact that you must turn WiFi off in the camera in order for USB to work. The good news is that a wired connection should be faster and more reliable than WiFi.

Hey, no worries, I was just noting that I had not found on the website where to grab the beta's or RC's from when it is available. Just let me know, I didn't expect instant compatibility I know these things take time, both to add the data, compile the build, then also upload it, I certainly didn't expect such fast responses on just the support forum, I was actually just stopping by to see if there was a link to the repository. I'm pretty much certain to purchase the full version once its ready. Especially after this kind of fast response.

The number 80000432 is for the 1200D / T7 according to my records.  Let me see what I can do.

sorry for the confusion, I can connect to the EOS utility app with WiFi Off, and it finally spit back the error above in the trial version of BYE when I tried to connect after that. But wont connect. I noticed that the t7, is supported in pre-release in the support matrix, and I'mm downloading the pre-release now that I have found it. Before i had just downloaded the trial version, and didn't see the t7 was supported in the pre-release only I'll let you know if it works. The 2000d is supposed to be a t7, but the camera and packaging is marked 2000d, not 1200d. I think its marketed in certain areas as 2000d or its maybe a slightly upgraded or a later version from the 1200d. I just bought what i thought was the cheapest cannon that was new that seemed to support what i would use it for, honesty.
