BYEOS Timeout Problem

ray2425

Question

Hi, I have just started using BYEOS and have encountered a problem with a timeout error. I get this error on both of my Canon cameras. I use the eos1000d & eos800d. After three or four images I get the normal busy notification then a timeout error saying it's taken longer than 59 seconds session stopped. Unfortunately the busy notification stays on locking me out, I then try to abort the operation with no joy, I have to close BYEOS and shut down my camera. If I restart the application again the same problem reoccurs. BYEOS has full write permission to its folders on my hard drive.

Hi astroman133, thanks for you response. Long exposure noise reduction is set to off. As for the anti virus I will give it a try with it disabled, but I'm not sure if that's the root cause, because I can get 3 or 4 exposures perfectly before the issue arises.

How long is each exposure? Is the PC a low-powered machine, like a netbook? What other devices are using USB ports? Like a guide camera?

If there are other USB devices consuming bandwidth, try a mock imaging plan with only the camera (and perhaps a keyboard and mouse).

Some PCs simply cannot handle the throughput needs of an imaging setup, especially when autoguiding.

Well, after several hours I now have BYEos working as it should with only a minor issue.

cable changed, anti virus turned off and files set to save to PC only - still an issue with timeout. Time to delve deeper and find out what was going on. First discovered windows was still putting the USB ports into power save even though it was set to disabled, so got that rectified. Now checked the power output of the USB ports only to find the port I was using for some reason was well below its supposedly output power so changed to another port and then run multiple sessions in Bulb and selected individual settings and all went well without any errors ?.

The only minor issue was when set to save images to PC I only got RAW files and no jpg's even though BYEos was set to RAW & L jpg's. When set to Camera and PC I got both images but I can go with that.

just like to thank you for all your help.

Hi Guylain,

Now set to PC & Card and so far no more issues. Looks like a new laptop fo Christmas ?

I presume I can install BYEos on another PC. At the moment I'm setting up a desktop PC as a backup.

Yes, please read the EULA paragraph 2.

2. You may install and use the software on another computer, but the software should not be in use on more than one computer at a time unless you purchase additional licenses. You may make back-up copies of the software for archival purposes. You may not transfer your license to use the software to another party.
