Canon EOS 800D connection problem

bosman04

Question

I recently acquired a Canon EOS 800D camera and when I try to connect it to BYE I receive the following message:

13:21:01  Licensed to bosman04
13:21:13  Attempting to connect camera...
13:21:13  Canon drivers 'Canon215\' initialized.
13:21:13  DEVICEINFO DESCRIPTION IS Canon EOS 800D
13:21:13  DEVICEINFO NUMBER IS 3470492101.
13:21:13  YOUR *REAL* MODEL NUMBER IS 4294967294(FFFFFFFE)
13:21:13  Generic model 153 assumed!

What could the reason be?

Where can I get the correct driver? When I look in the Canon web site, it claims there are no new drivers to download. Could the problem perhaps be that I have a previous version of Canon Utilities on my computer?

It's already in BYE you have nothing else to download.

When you connect your camera you should see this screen.  You need to select Canon (default).  If you don't see this screen it is because you told BYE to remember your last selection it it looks like it was Canon215.  If this is the case to to Settings -> Advance Settings and check "Ask for camera drivers. option.

You are not connecting using the the correct Canon Drivers.  Use the Canon drivers when connect in BYE, not Canon215 and not Canon 210.

Canon (like Nikon) are notorious for leaving a delay after they release a New Model before they release an Updated SDK that supports that Model.

There is a chance that Guylain can use the details that you provided above to test whether the 800D is yet supported in the most recent Canon SDK.
