  1. I really would like to be able to reset the sequence number when changing from one target to another, or from one frame type to another, or when I change the target folder. John C.
  2. I know I can select a folder in which to put a file, but I really want to have the frame type, target name, and date as folders created on the fly. My organization is like this: <parent>\<frametype>\<target>\<date>\<filename> There's a lot more to it than that. I have several cameras and several telescopes and I use other apps for taking images than just BYE, so <parent> folder gets a bit complicated since I want to organize my images accordingly. Essentially, I just want to set the <parent> folder in Settings and let BYE create the folders <frametype>, <target>, and <date> for me. This can be done with other apps. It makes it easier for me to be able to organize my photos and be a lot more automatic with a session. It would seem that a special character in Settings for the filename could be used to tell BYE to create a folder using the enclosed name: %<frametype>%<target>%<date>%<target>_<exposure>s_iso<ISO>_ Or just simply recognize that '\' is to be used to create a folder using the preceding name: <frametype>\<target>\<date>\<target>_<exposure>s_iso<ISO>_ John C

    Canon EOS 800D connection problem

I recently acquired a Canon EOS 800D camera and when I try to connect it to BYE I receive the following message: 13:21:01 Licensed to bosman04 13:21:13 Attempting to connect camera... 13:21:13 Canon drivers 'Canon215\' initialized. 13:21:13 DEVICEINFO DESCRIPTION IS Canon EOS 800D 13:21:13 DEVICEINFO NUMBER IS 3470492101. 13:21:13 YOUR *REAL* MODEL NUMBER IS 4294967294(FFFFFFFE) 13:21:13 Generic model 153 assumed! What could the reason be?
  4. My new camera has an ethernet (RJ-45) connection that can be used to control the camera; I use it as the primary link for EOS utility. Any chance of getting BYE to use ethernet rather than serial? Low priority suggestion, but would be a nice alternative when you need to be further away than serial will allow.

    BYE slow start up

Recently BYE has been very slow to start. Once running, it seems fine. This is new behavior. I'm running Win 10 64 Bit with 6GB RAM. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a fix? Thanks Tim

Canon EOS BYE Locks Up After Imaging

Hello, I have recently purchased a copy of BYE for my Canon 6D EOS, which I plan to use for the 8/21 eclipse. Initial setup and linking to my camera was no problem. After setting up and saving a image program to explore some exposure brackets using a 99.9999 filter, I ran the image program, and successfully captured the images. Then the program "froze" and I needed to use Task Manager to get out (the images were successfully saved in the camera). I am running Windows 7 Professional on an HP Pro Book 4540s. Any ideas? jch

  23. Hi, I'm a developer. I just wrote a proxy-system to allow using ascom mounts connected to other machines. Basically ASCOM-over-ip. It lets you run just the drivers and the small proxy program on the (very small) computer at the mount. So fat it seems to work with MaximDL and TheSkyXPro, the only programs I've tried. I would like to start working on ASCOM cameras next. If BYN/BYE uses ASCOM commands, I would love to play with it. So a few questions 1. Does this sound interesting to anybody? 2. If so, will you ship the driver as a separate install? I can't install BYN/BYE on every machine for the simple reason that I would need some machines without it to make sure it really worked. If this sounds interesting to anyone, let me know. I know and use BYN and would love to be able to get rid of virtually all usb wire clutter and/or long lines going inside during the winter. Just place a stick computer or NUC computer right on the mount or eyepiece table and run everything to it. From there, the equipment is controlled remotely over wi, on computers running the reall programs. No need for larger computers that can support VPN/RAS solutions. Thanks

    Magnification with BYE (5x zoom)

    Hi, I have the following config: SW ED80, Canon 600D(w/BYE), 2x barlow, 9mm ep apparent Magnifications below ..... ED80 = 12x ED80 + 2x barlow = 24x ED80 + 9mm ep = 66x ED80 + 2x + 9mm = 122x or 130x ED80 + 3.75mm ep = 160x (theoretical limit for the scope) ED80 + 9mm + BYE(5x) = 330x ?? ED80 + 2x + 9mm + BYE(5x) = 650x ?? Could you comment on the last 2 statements above regarding BYE with 5x zoom and the calculated numbers. (This is a magic product. Could not do without it). But I would like to understand the effect of the 5x zoom option/feature in the Planetary tab in terms of resulting magnification. Thanks for your time
