Remote laptop

Astrodancer55

Question

Hi, I have the BYEOS premium edition, I am now wanting to set up a remote laptop, near my scope, to control from indoors, (I'm getting older and the cold is starting to get to me), I would like to use an old laptop outside, can I use the same license code on the second laptop or do I need to buy another license?

Thanks.

Mart.

The configuration that you are describing would include Remote Desktop software - such as Microsoft's "Remote Desktop" or TeamViewer or the old Symantec pcAnywhere.

These are all implemented such that the "Work Applications" (BYE/BYN and PHD2 and...) are running on the PC at the Scope, and only the Display activities are performed at the Remote Viewer.  This is how one keeps compliant with the BYE EULA.

There are numerous other similar Programs out there - this link provides a quick rundown of some of the more current ones:  15 Free Remote Access Software Tools

Some of these communicate directly between PCs, while others require Internet Access to make the Connection.  Neither type should be an issue as the OP is describing a setup just outside his House, but should be considered for anyone looking to follow this setup at a more Remote Site (think huddling in your Cabin or RV whilst your BYE/BYN Imaging Session is chugging away).
