Canon 200D

Hi
I have a Canon 200D and a trial version of backyard EOS. I know the camera is not on the supported list but i thought I'd try it anyway. It connects and recognises the camera, live view doesn't work and BULB doesn't work. I can set it for 30 second exposures and any other exposure but not BULB. Any plans for supporting the 200D.

Noticed this on Canon website:

7 August 2017:
EDSDK 3.6.1 is now available to download by members of the developer programme.
EOS 6D Mark II / EOS 200D are supported.

Actually, I wonder if the SDK that is distributed with BYE 3.1.16 may support the 200D. The version of the SDK file is 3.6.30 and it was made in July 2017.

Try it. It won't work initially but you will get weird numbers like these. Sent them to me and I should be able to make it work.

I'm still waiting for those numbers. I need them to make it work with the 200D.

I confirmed that BYE 3.1.16 includes the 3.6.1 version of the Canon SDK which supports the 200D. I downloaded the latest SDK as of this date (12/6/2017) and compared the SDK against the DLL that is distributed with BYE. They are the same.

If you are the owner of a 200D follow Guylain's instructions above to provide him the numbers that allow him to support the 200D in BYE. The camera is also called the SL2 and Kiss X9. Typically he provides a beta version of BYE for a owners of the newly supported cameras to test with before releasing the final version. This has already been done for the 6D Mk II and it is now listed in the supported cameras list.

When a new version of BYE is released, Guylain creates a post to announce the release. You can then check the change log on the download page for that release to see what is new.

You can already get notifications, somewhat. Go to the BYE download latest release page and FOLLOW that page. When It gets updated you'll get a notification and then you can look at the next release's change log to see if it is included.

this is mine for the canon 200D Version 1.3.16 of Backyard doesn't detect the camera at all.

Can I please get help to connect my Canon EOS 200d? The log file says that my camera is not currantly supported by the Canon SDK. ?

Please create a new thread for your issue. It is unrelated to Ckevin's old post. Creating a new post for each issue makes it easier for future readers to make sense of what issues people are having and how they got fixed.

When you create a new thread, please let us know what version of BYE you are using (for example 3.1.16), what license you have (Trial, Classic, or Premium), and the details of the steps to re-create the issue.

That said, according to another thread you need to download BYE 3.1.17 RC2 from the Pre-release area to get support for the 200D/SL2.

Well there you go... you're using the old Canon215 drivers... that will never work

Your 200D is a newer model, you need to use the latest Canon option when connecting your camera (not Canon2010 and not Canon215).

I'm not seeing the new driver when installing the pre-release setup-BackyardEOS-v3117-RC1?
Can it be because my previous installation (setup-BackyardEOS-v3116.exe) is a trial license?

No, it's because you told it at one point to remember your selection... which was Canon215.

Goto Settings -> Advance Settings and enable "Ask Camera Drivers".
