Anyone going at NEAF 2017?

admin

Question

Hi guys,

I will be at NEAF this weekend in New York.  I'll be there both days, but not as a vendor, as a visitor... like all the cool people  B)

So... if you see a tall 6'2" dude wearing a royal blue polo shirt with the O'Telescope logo in the front, stop him and say hi... that would be me.

If you do decide to stop and say hi, please introduce yourself and say 'nice blue shirt' and I'll know you saw this thread and that we are good friends... if not I'll scream STALKER out loud and security will drag you outside

Hope to see a few of you out there.

Regards,

I'm at NEAF 2017 this weekend in New York as a visitor, not a vendor, and boy I'm having a blast as a visitor... it is a lot more fun from this perspective than having to man a booth all weekend. I met some cool guys from Canon too; I didn't even think they knew about BackyardEOS... in fact they had recommended it to at least 2 people just a few minutes before I introduced myself as the creator of BackyardEOS. That was a kodak moment (pun intended).

Didn't want to revive an old post, but needed to know whether there was success in getting BYE to work with EOS-M6 that has an intervalometer port. On the compatibility grid, EOS-M6 is not listed but its earlier models are. I'm interested in getting the M6 for terrestrial photography, but wanted to use it for astrophotography as well. Thanks.

No success.  Although they did add an intervalometer port on the M6, the SDK is as crippled as it was with it's predecessors sadly.  It still does not allow tethered shooting :(

In the future please create a new post, in the correct forum (Backyard EOS for questions related to BYE) with a title that makes it easy for others to find your post and to see, at a glance, what the topic is about.

Adding your question to an old, unrelated post is not helpful to others.

To answer your question...It is not a matter of "getting BYE to work with the EOS-M6". 3rd party support for control of the M6 has been prevented due to decisions made by Canon. There is nothing that the authors of BYE can do about it. You might be better off to get a T6i.

Thanks,

No but they had an EOS M6 on display and it does have an intervalometer port.

We tried to see if we could take bulb images over usb using EOS utility and it can not so it looks like the M6 is also somewhat crippled for what we do but because it has an intervalometer port it is possible that this mirrorless camera could be use using a serial cable.

I will order one and see if I can make it in BYE, that would be a welcome change for the M series.
