Fine Focus Arrows Not working in BYEOS?

My2Stars

Question

I have the trial version of BYEOS. Am using the Canon T2i with the 35-80mm kit lens. I am learning this program and following the You Tube tutorial that the author did

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3gkw8bx7Aw.

At the 26:00' mark he talks about the fine focus adjustment arrows on the screen to help dial in the clarity.

This does not seem to work with my Canon. The drivers are installed in the program and everything is on Manual including Manual Focus but clicking those arrows does nothing. In his tutorial he does NOT have the scope attached, just the DSLR.

See photo.

I believe that you are doing something wrong. Either the lens is in MF mode, but needs to be in AF mode, or the lens is not compatible with Canon EF/EFS lenses.

I have no problem with any of the 6 chevron buttons driving the lens in both directions. My camera is the T5i and my lens is the EFS 18-135mm. My version if BYE is 3.1.7, but this has always worked. The only time that the buttons do nothing is if the lens is already driven in that direction as far as it will go.

Please keep in mind that there are thousands of people who use BYE all the time. If you are experiencing a problem where BYE is not behaving as you expect. As a new user, you should first assume that you are doing something wrong. The main reasoning is that if something is actually not working then probably one of the other long-time users will have found the issue. So it will have been fixed, or at least discussed in this group.

I will also say that those chevron buttons will only be visible if the camera reports that a lens is attached.  The are NOT available for focusing when the camera is attached to a telescope at prime focus. That is why the tutorial showed how to use the buttons with a lens attached, rather than a telescope.

To My2Stars: I was having the same problem with my T2i. It seems that if you try to focus with the chevrons

when you are not in live view, then you cannot focus with the chevron after that. I havr to restart BYEOS and the camera

to get the chevrons to work again. Remember!!!!! Only try to focus in live view.
