Here is the actual thread.

I will probably have to remove Yahoo Weather in a future release.

Shame on Yahoo for breaking this intentionally :(

Can you provide instructions on how to collect weather data on an ongoing basis into a text file? Thanks!

Typically you do not create the file yourself.

This feature is meant to read information form external weather station that can output their data in a text file.  Since all devices are different, BYE/BYN allows you to configure the actual file structure so it knows which columns to read to get the temperature and humidity.

You can create a file using notepad is you want... but you need something to add weather data to it.

A typical file can look like this

2016-04-01 10:13:00 New York          74.5          68.4

2016-04-01 10:18:12 New York          74.8          68.2

2016-04-01 10:26:24 New York          73.7          68.1

2016-04-01 10:32:11 New York          72.9          68.9

You then configure BYE/BYN to read this file by telling it at which column to start and to end reading the location, the temperature, and the humidity.

Only the last line is read, so your weather device can continue to add data in the file as the night goes on and it will be updated in the app.

Hope this help.

Thanks, that's very helpful. By creating the file myself, I meant something like an API or a Python script to scrape online data (e.g., WU) into a text file.

Maybe I should look into a home weather station? (I tried TemperHUM, but couldn't get it to work properly for some reason.)

Thanks again!
