EOS / BYEOS

Question

Guylain

I have a friend that is trying to use EOS to do AP. I have been trying to sell him on BYEOS.

could you please let me know some of the differences between EOS and BYEOS that make BYEOS so much better. I have not used EOS at all. I know that EOS is used primarily used for daylight shooting and BYEOS is solely for AP. any other PROS you could provide would be helpful.

By "EOS", I assume that you mean the "Canon EOS Utility" App and not the Brand Name for Canon's whole line of Digital SLR Cameras...

"EOS Utility" is a relatively "basic" Camera Interface Utility, although it does expose and implement most of the Canon EOS SDK - Camera Setting manipulation, Exposure Control, Shutter Control, Image Downloading - as well as providing a launchpad for a number of the other Canon Utilities.  It isn't really designed specifically for either "daytime" or "nighttime" Imaging - but it is definitely missing many of the functions and features provided by BYEOS that prove so useful for Telescopic- and Astro- Imaging.

If you can't convince your friend to go with BYEOS simply by pointing him to the BACKYARDEOS.COM Features Pages, then simply setup next to him for an AP Imaging Session and let him get jealous over how useful and user-friendly BYEOS proves itself to be.

(Some people can't be led to water...  They need to smell it for themselves...)

It's hard to add over what s3igell just summarized.

Tell your friend to try the 30-day trial, it is there for that reason.

BackyardEOS has a simple night vision friendly user interface.  Unlike EOS Utility, BackyardEOS does not pop windows all over the place and it is designed for astrophotography by an astrophotographer... me :)

Hope this helps,

Yes I was referring to the "Cannon EOS Utility"

I think he got the trial for V2 and due to weather and other problems he might have used it one time if at all before the trial ran out <_<. I have setup next to him, I can't say what his problem is, he says he likes the program. I know he is a student at our local collage.

He seems to think his problem is the data transfer to the computer. I cant say as I am not watching what he is doing. he actually has a pretty good site in his back yard :) but 50 miles away. I am really envious of his backyard site.
