Canon 1100d Win7 64 bit

Duane2016

Question

I have the trial version, 3.1.6, and my Canon 1100d won't connect. I'm running Win 7 64 bit and the Camera Support grid says it's supported. I really want to buy this software, but not if I'll need to change my OS. Any help?

There are many reasons for connection failures and they have been discussed in numerous previous threads.  Have you looked there?

Some of the reasons are

1) another application like the Canon EOS Utility is connected to the camera.

2) bad USB cable (or cable is too long)

3) you chose the wrong version of the Canon SDK when you tried to connect.  The best choice is Canon215!

4) missing Windows driver.  Do you see the camera listed in the Windows Device Manager?

5) insufficient disk space. You need at least 10GB of available space on the drive that contains your Download folder.

I would also say that if BYE will not run that you should enable the .NET 3.5.1 Framework via the Enable Windows Features link in the Programs & Features applet in the Control Panel.

As per the camera support grid the 1100D and w10 is fully operational.

Please try with EOS Utility first.  If it does not connect with EOS Utility your issue is between the camera and the computer / drivers.

If is works with EOS Utility then it will work with BackyardEOS, it uses the same drivers.  If not send me the log files.

Duane,

I've been using my 1100d with Win 7 64-bit for years (since BYE was in version 1.something).  Have had no connection problems at all.  It is most likely a USB cable issue so I suggest you try another cable.  Rick already list the other issues that are common.

You won't regret purchasing this software.  It will take your enjoyment of the hobby to a whole new level.

Aaron
