Dithering

Robfitz

Question

Can someone please help me.. I have been dithering well up until recently with PHD2 and 600d camera and EQ6R mount. I can now still quide ok, but cannot get dither to work. Byeos feezes at PhD port stage when I start dither. I have tried IP port 4300 and 4400. Usually when I do a test in the setting section, Byeos freezes, but occasionally it will say test is successful. However when ever I try to dditter when imaging , BYEOS will freeze when trying phd port. I must have missed something as dithering used to work well.

Thanks, Robert

If the software has been working well for a long period of time, but now does not work. It is likely that something changed  to cause it to start failing. It is more likely to be a setting than the software itself.

The IP port number is not likely to be the issue, unless some other software on your PC (other than BYE and PHD2) are using that port. Also both BYE and PHD2 must be configured to use the same port. I believe that PHD2 uses IP port 4300 so this is what BYE must be set for. If you change the port number in BYE's settings you may need to restart BYE for the change to take effect.

Also, are you sure that dithering is enabled in BYE and that PHD's Server is enabled on the PHD2 Tools menu?

Yes, it does.

There is a group of controls for dithering on the BYE Settings dialog. They are in the lower left quadrant of the dialog.

Most important are that PHD must be set as the Provider and the PortIP must be set to localhost:4300. You can also set Dither on startup to have Dithering be on automatically. when you start BYE.
