Backyard EOIS - Stops imaging

trevor@woldsweather.co.uk

Question

As my astro camera is being repaired I am back with my trusy Canon. Trouble is it takes about 7/8 images then stops taking them/ I expected 5 houirs of good data last night and it had stopped imaging before I got to bed. Just taken flats and again it only takes 6-8 images then stops.

When it 'stops' it says busy but theres nothing like 100/180 showing ( 3 min exposures).

How can I get it to image all night?

Please read the orange banner at the top of this page which asks you to provide your camera model and the full version number of BYE that you are using whenever your report an issue. If you are not using BYE 3.2.3 or BYE 3.5.0..., please upgrade to the latest. There is no cost and you can continue to use the same license key.

You did not provide much information to assist with troubleshooting, but I am going to take a leap and ask if you are saving your images to the camera's SD card. If so, then I would suggest saving the images to the PC's hard drive, instead. If the version of BYE is not up-to-date it is possible that there could be an issue with BYE trying to take the next image before the camera has finished saving the current image to the memory card. This could cause the camera to report BUSY back to BYE when it tries to take its next image too quickly. This will not happen if the images are downloaded to the PC. You might also change your capture plan to add a delay between each image. I would start out with a 10 second delay and if that eliminates the issue, you could try again with a shorter delay until the problem re-occurs.

If none of this is helpful (you are already using the latest version of BYE and already saving your images to the PC) then you will need to provide more detailed information about how you are imaging, the camera you are using, etc. so that the O'Telescope developers can try to re-create your issue. They may also ask you to provide a log file from an imaging session where the problem occurred. You should wait for them to ask for a log file and follow their instructions for providing it. Due to the fact that that the log file is recording a long session you should NOT include it with a post to this forum. You may need to upload the log file to a cloud drive, like Dropbox, and when requested provide a link to that cloud drive to the developers.

I hope this is useful.
