get me up to speed please?

Question

I bought BYEOS years ago as I wanted to support it.  I never used it as I have a dome and used Prism, SGP and now NINA.  well the time has come when I actually need BY EOS.  (ECLIPSE) upcoming...  my astro cameras don't really shoot at the fast shutter speeds needed.  I want to connect my Canon to my scope (for the first time in 7 years of astro photography.
I have a Canon RP now and it seems to read it - but doesn't connect.   My version is  3.1.10  Premium edition. 1499.  ?????????
Hoping I don't have to buy a newer version as I've never used this version other than to test it during the day.  Seems like I paid around 50 bucks I think.

I get this.  I have sharpcap and nina on my laptop but I think the way to go will be the Canon on the 80mm.
What do I need to do to get this connected.

thanks

Your version of BYE pre-dates the EOS RP, so the Canon SDK doesn't yet recognize it. The good news is that there is no cost to bring your BYE up to the latest release of 3.2.3, which does support the RP.

Now, never post your license key here or in any public forum, or share it with anyone.

If you have a multi-line license key then you need to upgrade the license key, but there is no cost, unless you want to upgrade a Classic license to a Premium license. With a Premum license you could create, save, and load your capture plan ahead of the eclipse. The new license key is maintained by O'Telescope and you can access it via the My Purchases -> Orders item in the menu bar at the top of this web page when logged in with the same account that you used when you got the license. Again if you already have a Premium license there is no cost to get an upgraded license. Just follow the Upgrade Instructions link for BYE in the page footer.

You're using a 7-year-old version of BackyardEOS, those cameras did not even exist when 3.1.10 was released in 2017.

Download the latest 3.5.x Release Candidate from the pre-release download section.
