License key and user name not accepted

warch67

Question

I purchased the Backyard EOS back in 2015.  My computer crashed recently and I just downloaded version 3.2.3 and when it opened I entered the correct license key number and user name it came up as invalid.  I double checked the key number to make sure it was correct.

I went to the upgrade instructions.  It said if you already have EOS Classic 3.1 just download the current version and use the same License Key to activate.  That's what I did originally today and it didn't work.  The other option I saw was to purchase the new version from the cart and enter the 5 digit coupon code from the license key.  It didn't accept the coupon code.  I'm not really upgrading because when my computer crashed I lost EOS Classic 3.1 from the hard drive.

If you already have 3.1 then you there is no upgrade, just you're the same key with 3.2 or even 3.5 pre-release.

If you have 3.1 then your key is stored here on the website under "My Purchases -> Orders". However, you need to be logged in with the account you used when you purchased or upgraded last, and this is an account other than the one you are using for posting in this thread.

Regards,

I think that it would help to have more information.

So this is a new or rebuilt PC.

What version of Windows are you using? BYE no longer supports versions of Windows earlier than Windows 10. This is because Windows 7 or 8 may lack the web security to validate your software license with the O'Telescope servers.

What version of BYE are you trying to validate? You said that you downloaded version 3.2.3. Is that still the case?

Are you copying and pasting your license key from My Purchases -> Orders on this web site when logged in with the username that was used to purchase the license? Such a license key can be used to validate all versions including 3.1 and newer.

Do not try to transfer the license key by typing it in to the license validation dialog manually. It is too easy to mistake a one for the letter L or a zero for a letter O.

CAUTION: Above all else, remember to never post your license key on this forum or in any other public place.

I lost my 3.1 version when my laptop crashed. I purchased the laptop new.  I did a Windows restore and recovered most files but not 3.1.  I'm running Windows 10.  I went to my purchases and it showed the 3.1 version was purchased 3-30-2020 as an update from 3.0 that I got in 2015.  It shows expired next to the order with no license key.  I even tried to log in with an old user name and password but that failed.  I have 3.2.3 on the laptop and copied and pasted the license key but it won't validate.  I saved the license key in documents  years ago.
