60D and mirror lockup

johnson19938

Question

I’m trying to get the mirror lockup delay to work with my 60D. I’ve read where it says it works over USB with digic 4 cameras and I’m also reading the 60D is a digic 4 camera but can not get it to work. Any help would be appreciated. I’m using the trial version but I wouldn’t see that making any difference. I can enable it in the menu on the camera and it shows it’s on but when I take a shot it doesn’t work and turns it off on my camera.

Mirror-lockup never worked well with my 60D, back the years ago when that was my AP Camera.

However, mirror-lockup isn't really that important a tool for AP Imaging.  The Mass of the DSLR on a good GEM Mount and Scope means any mirror-box shake is deadened within the 1st second of a lengthy exposure.

Thanks for the info. I’m not using a GEM, mine is a fork mounted scope, and my exposures are at most 50 secs. Still trying to get PHD2 to guide my 27 year old 12” lx200 mount. Not working out too well, but then I just got started, it’s winter, and I’ve not had too many clear nights to try and configure the app to my mount . So I’m kinda just doing hundreds of short exposures to get my capture. I hear what you’re saying about the mirror vibration damping out after a sec, just at this point not wanting to chance ant vibration at all with shorter exposures. I’m new to AP, but not to photography as a whole. I have a home made intervalometer that will trip the shutter twice each time and then time my shot, giving mirror lockup function, I’m just trying to streamline my equipment, and was so hoping the app would give me that function, especially given the fact that the website said it was supported for that feature.  Still buying it for other features it gives, but disappointed.
