Mirror Lockup Error with Canon 7D Mk2

mdjarvis

Question

When using Mirror Lockup with the Canon 7D Mk2, BackyardEOS shows the following error and the image capture task ends.

23:37:17  Canon EOS 7D Mk 2 CONNECTED!

23:37:46  Imaging session started.

23:38:02  Imaging session cancelled

23:38:02  ERROR EDS_ERR_DEVICE_BUSY : EDSDK.EdsSetPropertyData(cameraRef, MirrorLock(16778296), 0, size(4), 1)

Mirror lockup works fine with the 60D

I am using BackYard EOS V3.1.3

Is there a fix for this issue as I always use Mirror lockup for my imaging.

Do realize that Mirror Lockup is of Limited Value for AP Imaging, unless you are Imaging a Very Bright Object such as the Moon or Jupiter/Venus/Saturn (and these should be Video Stacked instead).  The Mass of the Mount and the Scope should very quickly dampen any Vibration that actually occurs from the Mirror/Shutter Activation.  And any DSO Target where 45sec-5min Exposures are required before getting a decent Histogram will have been rather Too Dim to have softened the Image while that Vibration Dampening was occurring.

Thanks for the reply guyroch, I will patiently wait for an update :)

I use backyard EOS with a carbon fibre tripod, an astrotrac, and low F Stop L series lenses. Mirror lockup is essential with my setup. I will continue to use my 60Da for now.

Regards

Mark.
