I do not believe that there are proxy settings that can affect BYE. If you plan to use BYE with a Trial license, you need to know that the Trial license calls out to O'Telescope servers each time BYE is started in order to verify that your Trial license has not expired. This does not occur with a Classic or Premium license.

What version of BYE (the latest version is 3.2.2?) and what type of license (Trial, Classic, Premium) are you trying to use? Oh, and a Trial license will only activate with the latest release, which is currently 3.2.2.

The most common reason for license validation errors are typographical errors. Have you tried Copy and Paste to transfer the license key into the BYE license validation dialog? It eliminates the possibility of typos.

Oh, and finally, do not post your private license key to any public forum, including this forum.

Hi mate,

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to use the trial... however, if BYE doesn't try to get out to a server with a premium licence ever, then I'll just buy it!

Is that the case? That there is no server-side verification when buying a premium licence?

I am also trying to use a trial version (3.2.2). I am running it in a 'Wine bottle' on a Mac. When I click on Backyard EOS, it asks me for me license key and identifier. I obviously don't have one yet. Is the program unable to connect to the O''Telescope servers and, if so, what options do I have?

Please start your own thread in the future, your question is not related to the conversation in this thread. This will help to keep threads in context of the original issue.

As per instruction on the download page, you need to request a 30-trial key, this is separate from the actual file download.
