No live view using Frame & Focus with Nikon Z5

I just get a black screen when using Frame & Focus with my Nikon Z5 connected.

The logfile keeps saying:

Hi Yeah image on the LCD screen.

I looked back in the forum and found the same issue with the Z5 last year. Did you get any where?

 

I can live without the live view for now but happy to help with testing if you need any?

I have personally tested LV on the Z5 last year, and it works with the latest version.

I have since purchased a Z50 for testing, LV works on the Z50.

Please download BYN 2.1.3 pre-release from the pre-release download section.

Uninstalled, downloaded and reinstalled BYN 2.1.3 pre-release from the pre-release download section and LV still not working. See attached log file.

Which settings do I need on the camera other than M, empty cards and AF off?

Try a factory reset on the camera.

I've looked at the log file and honestly the camera is not providing a valid image memory string, it's not a jpg.

Have you tried to power cycle the camera?  Remove the battery for 30 seconds and try again.

Tried that, still not working. What's weird is live view works fine in Nikon Camera Control Pro but not in BYN 2.1.3.

Could the lens I currently have putting the camera in DX crop mode be causing the issue? The camera is full frame so will be in FX mode once my T ring arrives.

From the logfile, the camera is not returning an image.

Please try this download link. It's the same 2.1.3 release candidate with 1 changes

1. I cleaned up some unnecessary logging
2. I write the first live view frame to "BackyardTEMP\doanload" folder. 

In #2 above, the file created is a pure memory stream buffer dump, it should be an authentic JPG file of a live view frame.  I

Still getting the 'Parameter is not valid' error after installing the version at the link above.

Live view is working fine in APT v3.90 for the same camera and lens. Strange, must be such a minor thing causing the error.

Thankyou for investigating. The Z5 has two SD cards in it. Could it be them causing a conflict? 🤷‍♂️
