Time lapse video of Jupiter & moons

Dirty Harris

Question

Guylain, I recently watched a video of Jupiter and two moons, in what can best be described as a time lapse video or maybe even an animation of the planet Jupiter and two moons in motion, as Jupiter rotates slightly and the moons eclipse each other. Would you or someone on the panel know how this visual is obtained? Is it within the ability of "BYE" to some how put it together? Thanks Dirty Harris.

No Guylain, unfortunately not. I suspect it's got to be a series of still photos taken over time of course, then some how stacked into a video. It reminds me of an animation, where several photo's are stacked and as you flip through them rapidly they give the illusion of motion. But alas, no I don't have a link to it. Just thought i'd pick your brain as to whether my analysis seems sound. And if you have ever seen something like it.

I suspect that it is a series of images, but each image is from a short video.  Perhaps 60 seconds of video at 50 frames/second.  Each of the videos is combined into a single image using something like RegiStax.  Then some other software is used to combine the resulting images into the time lapse. But this is just a guess.

That seems like sound wisdom Astroman 133. That would make some sense of what I watched. It was indeed an interesting video, to see Jupiter rotating on it's axis as two moons moved and eclipsed each other. I'll keep researching it. Wouldn't mind being able to obtain a similar video myself, thanks again to one and all for the input. Best regards, Dirty Harris.
