count number of loops

jpettit

Question

Hello,

When I lauch a session where I want to take a maximum of pictures, I configure 1 shoot, on which I execute a loop.

It would be nice to have a count which increases on each loop, so that I could easilly have an idea of how many pictures I've taken so far.

Thanks

Regards

Jeremy.

The Loop feature in Frame and Focus is NOT meant for performing actual AP Exposures.  The output captured is in JPG Format, which is not very useful for AP Image Stacking / Calibration.

Instead you should be setting up an Exposure Sequence in the Image Capture Plan area which stipulates the Desired Number of Exposures.

Is there any specific reason why you would prefer a Loop over simply specifying the Number of Exposures into a Row of the Capture Plan??

Are you looking to run through a Looping Sequence of different Exposures??  Or of different Filters (even though there is not yet any automated support for Filterwheel Changes)??

Using a Row of the Capture Plan also provides you with a Capture Completion Time estimate - useful to project when to insert a Break for a Meridian Flip or a Manual ReFocus...

True, the capture completion time estimate can be very useful when a row of captures has been defined.

In my case, I like to shoot endlessly, at least while the sky is OK :-)

Counting the loops could be an option, to check or uncheck for instance.

Given that you are limited by Horizons or Meridian Flips and concerns for Focus Shift, the Estimated Completion Time readily tells you if you have requested an appropriate Exposure Count.

How long are your normal Exposures ??  Only for very Short Exposures are the uncertainties of Dither Settle Time and the few other variables likely to impact the accuracy of the Estimated Completion Time.
