Is my 2016 BYE license still valid - old computer crashed

ewiley

Question

I have been using BY EOS sine 2016, with the validation key I received then. That laptop died. I note that my validation key for the 2016 version is too long for the 2021 version I downloaded on my new laptop.

No problem if I need to pay another $50, I certainly got my use out of the 2016 version and I realize that not all upgrades to new versions are free. However, if my original license was good for all future upgrades I would appreciate an update on validating the program. So please let me know how to proceed.

Thanks for your response, great piece of software,
Ed Wiley

If your license key is a multi-line key for version 3.0 or earlier then you have two options. You can install 3.0 on the new computer and use the old license key OR you can upgrade your license (follow the Upgrade instructions via the link at the bottom of this page) and install the latest release of BYE.

I would suggest that you go the upgrade route. Support will be better and you will get all the features, fixes, and improvements that have been added over the past 5 years. The enhancement list is substantial!

so..on my new computer: I open BYEv3.2. It asks for two pieces of information on the first screen.

License key and Identifier (log-in name).

I assumed that the  License Key is the Validation Key I received as User ID: [omitted for security] in email dated Jan. 26, 2016.

Obviously I was wrong. I cannot find the "18-line" license key. At this point I will probably just cut through the frustration and buy a new license. I don't want to spend the rest of the afternoon dealing with this.

Thanks, Ed Wiley

Yes! Your key is available 24/7 here on the website under "My Purchases -> Order".

Keys are *not* sent in an email. The email you speak of the confirmation of your account creation here on the website, it is not your software key.

The multi-line license key is not valid for BYE 3.1 or later. It needs to be exchanged for a free, single line license key using the Upgrade instructions via the link at the bottom of this page. If you already did this, then it is available when you log onto this site with the same account that you used to get the new license key. Just to to My Purchases | Orders at the top of this page to see any licences that are associated with your login account.
