Cannot Connect To D600

b04gtr

Question

I am attempting to test BYN with my D600(s) I have 2 of them and both a experiencing same issue.

OS: Win 8.1 64bit

Nikon;  D600

USB camera direct (tried through powered hub, no hub, several different usb cable plugged directly in.)

- Connect Camera Windows informs its connected

- Start BYN

- Click Connect

- Attempting to connect camera...

- Camera Not Found!  ...  Popup appears with suggestions for connection issues.

I have been using digicamcontrol for a while now and it has no problems connecting and controlling the camera.  I was very interested in BYN because I just can't seem to get the dither operation working beween DCC and PHD.

I have set BYN to run as Administrator, Compatibility to Winxp sp2.  Tried plugging in camera after  I start BYN, etc...  always same result.  However, I can always startup Digicam and it connects right away?

Would love to test out the product.

Thanks

Will

Hello,

do you have a memory card in the D600 with possibly alot of images? As i understood when connecting the camera an index of images is created and when there are too many images on the card the connection progress might hit a time out wall. So just try connecting either with an empty card or no card. Maybe that solves your problem.

cheers!

DigiCam does not use the Nikon SDK to connect to the camera, BackyardNIKON does so you can't compare them sadly :(

If you have no card in your camera and it still does not connect it means the Nikon SDK does not see the camera.  Have you tried rebooting?

If I remember correctly from another Old Thread about a User with DigiCamControl, that App requires the DSLR be set into PTP mode while BYE/BYN requires the DSLR to NOT be in PTP mode...

Does this help ??

It's worth looking into for sure.  BYN does no use PTP protocol so if the camera is set to PTP it won't even be seen by the SDK... and there for BYN won't see it :(
