Temperhum Giving Wildly Incorrect Readings

maxshelhorse

Question

I just got a TEMPerHUM sensor. The software that came with it reads correctly, 75.87f  44.07% RH and 52.45 dew point. BYE premium edition is reading 441.0f, 0% RH, and 73.8f dew point. I uninstalled the TEMPerHUM software but BYE still gives me these wild readings. The readings do change slightly with time. What's going on. Anyone have any idea how to correct this?

Thanks

I have the same problem with version 3.1.3 as the person above. The readings are even further off than with version 3.1.2. This is the model I bought:

I was really looking forward to using the TEMPerHUM I bought.

This is getting weird... one of the 3 devices I have is the same as you :(

Back to the drawing board :(

Thanks for the log file, it could be something as small as a rounding issue in reading the device.

They change how to read the results from the TemperHum every small release they make of it...
Figured it out and it is fixed in the next release of BYN and BYE.

Thanks for all your help in debuggin this.

Chris.

One last bit of information:  It does appear that my TEMPerHUM unit works correctly outside of BYE.  I do the CapLock/NumLock thing in Excel or Notepad, and it gives what appears to be the correct values.

Can you please send me a copy of the software that came with your device, I want to compare it with mine.  I'm willing to bet it is different and I'm working with older drivers.  Just a guess but I've seen this in the past.

Thanks

I would like to send the programes( about 8Mb ) comes with the device showing false values. Please email me your address as the attached files are limited less than 500Kb here.

Send it to support@otelescope.com.

But... your message is confusing.  Does the program that came with your TEMPerHUM showing false values as well?

I'm not using their software. In fact, I haven't installed it. If you go into Excel, Notepad, or any application that accepts input with the TEMPerHUM unit installed and press ShiftLock and NumLock, it starts outputting its readings every second.

Hi Guylain,

I just received the same TemperHum from Amazon and seem I am having the some weird reading as well.

This is the direct reading from the TemperHum V.2 into Notepad

 num lock:off/on/--

        30.87    48.33    01
        30.86    48.33    01
        30.86    48.33    01
        30.89    48.30    01
        30.88    48.30    01

attached image is the screen shot from BYE 3.13

I'd like to chime in also. Even though I have BYN instead of BYE, I have a Temperhum (firmware TEMPerHumM12V1.2) and the readings are as followings in BYN:

Temperature 794.6c

Humidity 9646%

DewPoint -7091.9c

Calibration settings are zeroed out. I couldn't adjust them enough to cancel out the error!

I just plugged it in and let it go. The external app TEMPerHUM v24.4.4 gives the following readings:

Celcius 25.3

Humidity %RH 39.92%

Dewpoint 10.7

Seems like a neat little device, albeit somewhat esoteric with getting the software/driver needed and figuring out the multiple hardware versions. I'd like to know when or if there is a way to fix this in BYN so it can display the correct readings.

If there is anything I can do to help, let me know!

Thanks.

Ciao,

Mel

I fixed a bug in the licensing schema and when I touch that part of the code I tend to be very vigilant when testing.

I was support to release 3.1.3 last weekend but I did not get the change to test it thoroughly... I'm just a few days way, a week at most.

No emails are sent by default.  It is up to you so subscribe (or follow) the download file... and you'll get an email when the file is changed... but you;ll need to make sure you follow new released files as well to get perpetual notification emails.

Hi,

I received the TemperHum hardware today and pluged it in to BYE (latest release 3.1.2). The TemperHum device information reads TemperHum V 24.4.5 - firmware TemperHumM12V1.2. I have the same problem as Stellar Nebula. BYE reads the temp as 225.4c and humidity as 0%. Room temperature is at 22°C and humidity at 43%. Dit the following test: held the TemperHum device in my hands for a couple of minutes and when BYE polled the device the temperature went up for some degrees. Then wrapped a humid cloth around the sensor. When BYE polled the device again temperature was lowered but humidity stayed at 0%. So I think that the humidity data is simply not read. The TemperHum does work with his own soft (not correctly but whit in 2 °C and 2 or 3% hum). When will this issue be fixed? Are there other devices out there that are more reliable and could be read by BYE?

Thanks and best regards

Jean
