Damn, but that seems to be Good News in general for Mono DSLR AP Imaging!!  Especially the rumors that Sony might also be working on a similar product...  Wouldn't be long for Canon to also Join the Fray!!

This Nikon DS-Qi2 Camera is marketed as a Microscope Imaging Head (found a PDF for the Product Line here), but it appears to have some very AP Imaging Friendly features:

TEC Cooling !!

3x3 Binning !! (at least for Video / LiveView)

Video as well as Still Output...

An API (maybe the standard Nikon SDK used by BYN) as there is a Software Imaging Control App included...

D4s-equivalent Sensor (?) - Full-Frame FX 16.2MP 800-51200 ISO 14-bit 7.3um-pixels

Standard Nikon F-Mount

There are also a number of questionable items in the Specs:

Output in BMP, JPG and TIFF - no mention of NEF RAW - hopefully TIFF are 16-bit Linear

Exposure Timings of 100ms-60s - no mention of Bulb mode

No ISO below 800

24W Power Consumption - assume most of this is for the TEC

PRICE!! - marketed to the Medical Research and Industrial Sensing markets - these make NASA's Hammer and Toilet Seat Pricing look Sane !!

Oh, if only...
