Recording Plan for Planetary Mode

chris1986

Question

Hello,

Recently I captured a nice video of jupiter using 20 stacks of 2000 frame videos recorded 10minutes apart. The whole thing worked really nice and the result looks good. However due to limited space on the computer i had to record and process the stacks in parallel. Now my question: Is there a way to have a recording plan for planetary videos analogeous to the imaging plan? I had a timer running so that I knew when to manually start a new stack for the jupiter videos. Also I would have to be able to go in and out of 5x mode to regularly center the target while the imaging plan is running.

Thanks for the help

What features are missing?

Please detail the features that you would like to see added to a new post in the Feature Suggestion Box Forum.

Currently, the only things that you can do with an imaging capture plan are to abort it or to pause it.  With a planetary capture plan, all you can do is abort it.

I have previously suggested that it would be useful to be able to pause imaging to go to Frame & Focus for re-focusing then go back to Imaging to resume the plan, I can see that the same flexibility could be useful with planetary capture.

I want to be able to record a set number of videos in planetary mode with a specified delay. Say 2000 frame videos every 10 minutes. I can use the "Loop" and "Pause" options for that but once a plan is running i can't leave the 5x mode. Also during the pause, the live view is disabled. It would be cool, if the pause would work more like a timer. That way one can make sure, as you mentioned, that the focus is still there and the object is centered. The last point is particularly tricky when you want continuous stacks over the course of a night.
