Dithering during LENR

msid

Question

Hello!

If I have LENR (Long Exposure Noise Reduction) and dithering active, will/can BYEOS start dithering while the dark frame is being captured or does it have to wait for the light frame to be downloaded (after dark frame is captured) in order to initiate dithering?

Clear skies!

Can't be done right now, good idea.

However, the question should be why do you have LENR enabled in the first place, you're spending valuable dark sky time taking darks.  You should consider building a dark library and double the number of exposures you can get without LENR enabled.

True. But without cooling, dark frames are a bit of hit and miss. The idea is, if I am doing 30-40 secs exposures and want to dither on every frame, dithering takes almost 30 seconds anyway. That is why I thought, why not dither while the dark frame is being captured. Anyway, maybe one day :)
